About Charles Dennis
Charles Dennis studied photography for most of his adult life.
At the time of his death, February 2005, he left over 10,000
cataloged negatives, hundreds of fine digital and darkroom prints,
as well as dozens of journals. His wife of 23 years, Susan, is
dedicated to exhibiting his work and telling the story of the
artistic passion that overcame 30 years of chronic illness. “Charlie
would be thrilled with this recognition from such a variety of
accomplished jurors,” Susan observed, “but would
be equally thrilled for the opportunity to view and study the
many brilliant submissions.”
Since his death, Charlie’s work has been showcased
in various venues including; a 65-image exhibition titled, “The
Triumph of Art Over Illness” in the Semans and Allenton galleries
of the Durham Arts Council, the April 2008 issue of B & W
Magazine,
Frank Stasio’s NPR program, and various newspaper articles.
